"I am very excited to be a part of the 2011 VMA's,” Gomez says. “After all of my years watching the VMA's, the pre-show has always been one of my favorite parts. It is a true honor to be hosting from the black carpet this year."
Gomez will be like the guest MTV news correspondent as she interviews the celebs on the event’s black carpet and reports the live breaking news alongside the network’s current reporters, Sway, Jim Cantiello, and James Montgomery.
The network also announced that Cobra Starship will perform their hit, “You Make Me Feel…” featuring Sabi during the pre-show.
On Thursday, MTV announced that Lady Gaga would be opening the show.
Katy Perry, Adele and Kanye West are the top nominees for the awards this year. Perry collected nine noms, including video of the year and best female video for "Firework." Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" from her 21 album will also compete for video of the year and goes head-to-head against Perry in six other categories. Gomez wasn't nominated for an award this year.
