MTV's 'Real World' Scores Most-Watched Telecast in Three Years

MTV’s The Real World may be aging, but it’s not slowing down any time soon.

The most recent telecast averaged more than 2.5 million total viewers, its most-watched telecast in three years, and was No. 1 in its time slot in the persons 12-34 demographic on Wednesday.

The episode featured cast member Dustin Zito revealing his secret past as a gay porn star. In next week's episode, the aftermath of his Frat Pad scandal sends Heather into Nany's arms.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, co-creator Jonathan Murray said, “The Real World is still a bit of an experiment. I definitely think young people are more comfortable with their sexuality and expressing it than they were in 1992 — or at least more comfortable expressing it on television.”

Logo's season finale of RuPaul's Drag Race (585K, 0.8) on Monday night was up 24 percent in the key adults 18-49 demo. The finale was also the cable net's highest-rated telecast in men 18-49 and women 25-54 demos.
