Perhaps seeing the writing on the wall, NBC is giving Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris another night with a good lead-in before leaving it on its own at 8 p.m.

The network announced Thursday that the upcoming third episode of Best Time Ever will again air after The Voice at 10 p.m. That comes after a solid opener, post-America's Got Talent, and double-digit growth the following week with The Voice as its lead-in.

NBC originally planned for six of the eight episodes to air at 8 p.m., but that time slot is looking to be even more competitive now with the strong debut of ABC's The Muppets.

Best Time Ever is thus far a ratings success, but critics have greeted the twist on a British format with a more tepid response.
