Marvel has released the first look at its upcoming Netflix drama Marvel's Daredevil, showing Charlie Cox in both the superhero suit and as Matthew Murdock, the blind lawyer who seeks a very different kind of justice on the streets as a masked vigilante.

The photos were unveiled at New York Comic Con. Cox's costume — which Marvel says is just the first incarnation of what he wears in the show — was inspired by Daredevil: Man Without Fear!, the classic 1993 storyline by John Romita Jr. and Frank Miller.

Elden Henson will star as Murdock confidant Franklin "Foggy" Nelson, with Rosario Dawson also on board as Claire Temple and Vincent D'Onofrio cast as Daredevil archnemesis The Kingpin.

The series is the first of multiple Marvel shows planned for Netflix, and is executive produced by showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, Drew Goddard and Marvel Television's Jeph Loeb. It is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

The 13-episode Daredevil will be followed by series focusing on Marvel characters Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, which will culminate in the miniseries The Defenders, which can be thought of as an Avengers for the small screen.

Daredevil will bow on Netflix in 2015.
