'New Girl' Doles Out Career Advice in Flashback-Heavy Return (Video)
The Fox comedy comes back from a winter hiatus with a look at how the gang found their way to their respective careers -- or lack thereof.
New Girl returns from a long winter's nap on Tuesday night for a flashback-heavy episode about how the gang found their way to their current careers.
For Nick (Jake Johnson), the least gainfully employed of the group, this means a little illumination on how he came to drop out of law school for a life behind the bar.
"Jess [Zooey Deschanel] comes to see him and what he does a little bit differently," says episode writer Berkley Johnson in this behind-the-scenes look at the series. "Him being a bartender isn't sort of the stopgap that we assumed."
Other glimpses into the past include Winston (Lamorne Morris) playing basketball on a very uneven Lithuanian court and the return of Fat Schmidt (Max Greenfield). And all of the talk prompts Jess to rethink her current career path.
"This is an episode where, if you're a New Girl character and you don't change jobs or make other people appreciate your job in a new way, then I guess you're not paying attention," adds Johnson.
New Girl premieres "Clavado en un Bar" on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
