'New Girl': Max Greenfield Says Schmidt is 'Holding on for Dear Life' With Cece (Video)
Fox's New Girl was happy to rip the Band-Aid on at least one "will they or won't they?" duo during its freshman season. Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone) recently ended up in bed after an unsuccessful Valentine's playing wingmen to Jess (Zooey Deschanel).
And though the encounter won't likely lead to happy coupling anytime soon, it's not going away either.

"The stuff with Cece continues," Greenfield told The Hollywood Reporter at last week's PaleyFest event for New Girl. "Is it easy? Oh no, it's not easy. Schmidt is holding on for dear life with his little fingernails just in there."
One thing that's proving difficult for Greenfield in real life is maintaining the level of partial nudity he seems to achieve on the show every week.
"I'd like to stop dieting and working out for a minute," he said. "Here's the thing. We're on episode 21. I can't keep this up. I've gone off the last month I've just been eating, and, if you'll notice, you'll see me in certain scenes hiding things in front of my lower abs. It doesn't look like it did in episode 13."
Greenfield's co-star Lamorne Morris was also on-hand at PaleyFest, and he said that Winston's romantic outlook with Shelby (Kali Hawk) looks pretty good -- though it might cause a bit of change in his character.
"He starts to become a little soft," Morris told THR. "The competitive spirit doesn't go away, and there are episodes where it's almost like a man with Tourettes -- he just blurts things out. It out and then I have to tone it back down.
