'New Girl' Guest Parker Posey Talks Prop Booze, That Emmy Video and 'The Good Wife'
"I haven't improv-ed like that in a long time," the actress tells THR. "I was a little rusty, I've got to say."
New Girl kicks off its sophomore season with two new episodes on Tuesday night, the first of which features Parker Posey playing a character that wouldn't be entirely out of place in any of the Christopher Guest movies she's starred in.
It's a brand of comedy she recently revived in a viral clip for the Emmys but hasn't come to typify her TV roles of late -- The Good Wife, Louie and The Big C, among them.

"I haven't improv-ed like that in a long time," Posey recently told The Hollywood Reporter. "I was a little rusty, I've got to say."
Posey, conveniently in Los Angeles when Lesley Mann had to bow out of the role, makes her New Girl debut as Casey, a slightly vacant shot girl at Schmidt's (Max Greenfield) post-penis-cast "rebranding" celebration.
"They called me up... actually no one calls anyone anymore," she says. "I'd never even seen the show, but I read the script and thought it was hilarious."
Casey feuds a bit with Jess (Zooey Deschanel), who appoints herself a second shot girl in the wake of her unemployment, but she spends the bulk her screen time pouring bottles of prop Jack Daniels down extras' throats.
"I danced on a bar and fed people shots," she says. "I never got to do that. I can check it off the list now."

On set, Posey also says she discovered co-stars Greenfield and Jake Johnson (Nick) like to continue performing in between filming.
"Jake and Max are apparently now managers for actors," says Posey, semi-sarcastically. "They were giving me really good advice on what do with my career. It's a nice little side project they have going on -- or at least a way to keep the silly around. TV can be uptight."
Speaking of uptight, Posey recently had a three-episode arc as Alan Cumming's politically-motivated ex on The Good Wife. She hasn't been told yet if the character will be back during the upcoming fourth season.
"I don't know," she says. "Those writers move so fast and furious, deciding where they want to go. I would love to be a fly on the wall to see how it's all taking shape."
For now, the actress, who just arrived in France to shoot her part in the upcoming Grace Kelly biopic, Grace of Monaco, is banking on more hits for her recent YouTube clip.
"I really hope that gets more viral," says Posey. "I'd like to be able to start an online acting class. Online education is really popular and online acting would be really, really effective."
Posey's episode of New Girl airs Tuesday, at 8 p.m. ET, on Fox before the time slot premiere at 9 p.m..
