'Nine Lives of Chloe King': Chloe Encounters Alek, Meets the Mysterious Kai (Exclusive Video)

The first half of tonight's episode, "Dogs of War," of ABC Family's The Nine Lives of Chloe King elicited gasps when it was screened for Comic-Con attendees and there's good reason.

For one thing, Skyler Samuels -- who pays the titular character -- is reunited with her The Gates co-star Colton Haynes (now on MTV's Teen Wolf), who plays the mysterious Kai (what exactly is he?), and by the end, her safety is put into question. Again.

The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive clip from tonight's episode in which Chloe meets Kai for the very first time and has a close encounter with her Mai protector Alek (Benjamin Stone). Following the panel, Stone hinted that there would be a special connection between Chloe and Alek by the end of the episode.

But Stone was outdone by series developer Dan Berendsen, who teased at Comic-Con that by the end of the season, Chloe will kill a main character.

Set in San Francisco, the drama centers on Chloe King (Samuels) who discovers that she has special powers on the day she dies.

The Nine Lives of Chloe King, adapted from the Liz Braswell books, airs after Pretty Little Liars at 9 p.m. on ABC Family.
