'Nurse Jackie' Enlists 'Go On' Alum for Recurring Role (Exclusive)
Julie White will join the cast of Showtime's Edie Falco starrer and have a major presence in season six.
Showtime's Nurse Jackie is bringing in a sponsor for Jackie Peyton.
Go On alum Julie White has nabbed a major recurring role on the upcoming sixth season of the Edie Falco starrer, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
White will play Antoinette, a ballsy Southern realtor who becomes an AA sponsor to a downward-spiraling Jackie. Antoinette has seen and heard it all and could potentially be Jackie's match.
In the season-five finale, Jackie fell off the wagon and popped a pill on her way to her one-year sobriety party. Jackie had been sober on the Showtime dramedy for nearly two seasons.
"There needs to be consequences; you can't just do it as a one-time thing and say to the audience, 'Hey, come back and watch year six and she's on the wagon again,' " showrunner Clyde Phillips told The Hollywood Reporter following June's season finale. "I don't think that's fair to the dynamic of authentic storytelling. Her struggles will be even deeper next year."
In addition to White's recurring role, which begins in the season premiere, Nurse Jackie also promoted Adam Ferrara to series regular as Jackie's love interest, Frank.
Nurse Jackie returns in 2014.
In addition to Go On, White's credits include all three Transformers feature films, Lincoln and Michael Clayton. She's repped by Paradigm and Himber Entertainment. NBC canceled Go On, in which White played a member of a support group, after one season.
