Olivia Wilde Makes Final 'House' Appearance Monday: 'I See It as a Really Important Chapter in My Life' (Video)
The actress, who joined Fox's medical drama in 2007, is leaving to focus on her movie career.
Olivia Wilde makes her final appearance on Fox's House on Monday night.
The actress' character, Thirteen, makes a return to Princeton Plainsboro to help out with a case involving a man (Wentworth Miller) who's suffering from blackouts and a sudden desire to be extremely generous.
In the episode, titled "Thirteen Checks Out," House "decides he will make one last throw of the dice at Thirteen to try and bring her back into the fold," said Hugh Laurie, who plays the title character, in a preview video from Fox [watch below].
Wilde, who joined the medical series in 2007, took some time off from the show last season to focus on her movie career. The actress' recent credits include Cowboys & Alien, The Change-Up and Tron: Legacy. She next appears opposite Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried in the sci-fi thriller In Time, which opens Oct. 28.
For her part, the actress said her time on the show has been a learning experience.
"It's been an extraordinary time on the show for me, my work has gotten so much better from being on the show, from learning from Hugh and all the other actors and our amazing writing staff," Wilde said, adding: "I see it as a chapter, a really important chapter, in my life."
Meanwhile, Laurie sees her departure as bittersweet.
"There's a great sadness that Olivia is leaving us and moving on -- although it never came as any great surprise: Olivia was like a gunpowder fuse that was lit about 15 years ago," he said, adding: "Olivia is a real delight to be around, and we will miss her very, very much. She's obviously headed for great things."
House airs at 9 p.m. Mondays.
