'One Tree Hill's' Robert Buckley to Co-Star in CW's 'iZombie'
One Tree Hill's Robert Buckley is returning to The CW.
The actor has boarded the network's Rob Thomas adaptation of iZombie, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The supernatural crime procedural, based on the DC Comics title of the same name, centers on Liv, a medical student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the Coroner's Office in order to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat so that she can maintain her humanity. However, with every brain she eats, she inherits the corpse's memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.
Buckley, who starred as Clay on the final three seasons of OTH, will portray Major, Liv's former fiancé who is trying to transition back to being her friend despite still being in love with her. He's a former college football player-turned-environmental engineer who is extremely likable. The female lead role of Liv has yet to be cast.
Repped by WME, Interlink and McKuin Frankel, Buckey's credits include ABC's 666 Park Avenue, an episode of Hart of Dixie as well as Lipstick Jungle and Fashion House. He joins a cast that also includes Malcolm Goodwin, Alexandra Krosney and David Anders.
Veronica Mars creator Thomas and Diane Ruggiero will pen the script and exec produce alongside Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge. Thomas will direct the pilot, which hails from Rob Thomas Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The pilot is based on characters created by Chris Robertson and Michael Allred and published by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint.
