'One Tree Hill' Alum Books Lead in CW's 'Messengers' (Exclusive)
Another One Tree Hill alum is heading back to The CW.
Shantel VanSanten, who played Quinn in seasons seven and eight of OTH, has been tapped to star in the network's drama pilot The Messengers. The role is in first position to Fox's upcoming cop drama Gang Related, which bows May 20.
The Messengers centers on a mysterious object that crashes down to Earth and a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who die from the energy pulse. They then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse.
VanSanten, who next co-stars on Fox's upcoming drama series Gang Related, will topline the drama as Vera, a NASA scientist who works at a remote New Mexico observatory who investigates a strange impact site.
VanSanten joins a cast that includes Sofia Black-D'Elia (Skins), Joel Courtney (Super 8), Son of God's Diogo Morgado and Jon Fletcher. From CBS Television Studios and Thunder Road, Teen Wolf's Eoghan O'Donnell will pen the script. The Town's Basil Iwanyk will exec produce, while O'Donnell will serve as a co-EP alongside Kent Kubena and Ava Jamshidi. Stephen Williams will direct the pilot, which is filming in Albuquerque, N.M.
The actress, whose credits include three episodes of The CW's Beauty and the Beast, joins fellow OTH alum Robert Buckley in returning to the network. Buckely will co-star in Rob Thomas' iZombie. Her casting also comes days after former One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn's E! drama The Royals was picked up to series at the network.
She's repped by Leverage Management and Innovative Artists.
