Kelly Ripa Hosting 'Live!' Post-Oscar Special From Kodak Theatre

The daytime host leaves the New York studio for an awards recap on Feb. 27.

Kelly Ripa is staking her claim on awards season.

The Live! With Kelly host is heading to Los Angeles for a special episode of the daytime talker, taping the morning after the 2012 Academy Awards.

Disney-ABC Domestic Television announced Friday the Live! With Kelly’s After Oscar Show will broadcast live from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre on Feb. 27.

Oscar-themed programming is set to include interviews with winners, presenters and a fashion panel assembled for the show. To help fill the super-sized venue, the show is running a contest with Slim-Fast to award three viewers a trip out for the taping.

Live, which has been enjoying a 4 percent ratings bump since the departure of co-host Regis Philbin, is suddenly down 10 percent from this time last year. The drop has been attributed to viewers tuning in after Philbin's high-profile announcement of his departure on Jan. 18 of 2011.
