Ousted 'X Factor' Judge Cheryl Cole Admits to Thick Accent (Video)

The British singer will be replaced by former Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger on the talent competition.

While there's no official word as to why Cheryl Cole was replaced by former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger as a judge on the U.S. version of The X Factor this week, reports have suggested that her North Eastern British accent was problematic to Fox honchos.

Cole, a member of Girls Aloud and X Factor host in the U.K., speaks in a Geordie accent, which is known in England for its drawn out vowels and its its clipped words: 'yes' becomes 'ya' and the last consonant is often dropped.

STORY: Why Cheryl Cole Was Kicked Off 'X Factor'

A spoof in the Guardian newspaper suggested that American audiences might have trouble understanding Cheryl's dialect, struggling to understand that when she said "Ya dazzlin, pet. Keep gannin like that and yazall be a star," what she meant was "you are doing very well, keep going and you will be a star."

Cole herself admitted during the May 8 Los Angeles X Factor auditions that her accent would take a while to get used to. She said, "It might take you a second to understand my accent but we'll get there."

Scherzinger joins Cowell, Antonio "L.A." Reid and Paula Abdul on the show's judging panel.
