Paris Hilton: I Wasn’t Ready to Do a Reality Show Until Now
If you believe Paris Hilton, you’re about to see a different side of the socialite.
That’s according to Hilton, of course. “This show is not like anything that I’ve ever done,” she said of her upcoming Oxygen series The World According to Paris at NBCU’s summer press day Friday. “The Simple Life was a character... [this is] a behind-the-scenes look at my life.”
Hilton, who also serves as a producer on the series, took it upon herself to find the moments, with nothing really off limits. “There were a lot of things that I thought, ‘Oh my god, I want to cut that out,’” said Hilton.
When asked about her previous reality competition shows, Hilton said she “wasn’t ready” when they filmed The Simple Life with Nicole Richie. “I’m ready to show myself,” the woman famous for being famous stated matter-of-factly. None of the people who have appeared on her previous series will turn up on The World According to Paris.
“There’s no format to” this show, adds executive producer Arthur Smith. “People are going to be really, really surprised. I was surprised by where we went.”
As for what what viewers have left to learn about Paris Hilton: “It really shows the transition -- I turned 30 on the show, which was a huge deal for me,” she says. “[People will see] the businesswoman I am, how down-to-earth, sweet I am ...”
The series premieres Wednesday, June 1 at 10 p.m. on Oxygen.
