Penelope Ann Miller Boards ABC's Reese Witherspoon Divorce Drama
Penelope Ann Miller is extending her time at ABC.
The actress, currently appearing on anthology American Crime and who has had a recurring role on summer series Mistresses, has been tapped to co-star in the network's Reese Witherspoon-produced drama pilot.
From writer Meaghan Oppenheimer, the project centers on a ruthless Dallas divorce attorney (uncast) whose life begins to unravel when her emotionally damaged, love-addicted sister resurfaces, triggering self-destructive tendencies and exposing long-hidden family secrets.
Miller will play Elizabeth, the wife of a Texas oil billionaire who is seeking revenge after having been left for a woman 20 years younger than her.
The actress, repped by Untitled and APA, co-stars in the period drama The Birth of a Nation, which is set to hit theaters in October, and counts features The Artist and Carlito's Way among her credits. She earned a supporting actress Golden Globe nomination for her role in Carlito's Way.
Miller joins a cast that also includes Grey's Anatomy alum T.R. Knight and Charity Wakefield.
Oppenheimer (Fear the Walking Dead) will pen the script for the untitled divorce drama and executive produce the ABC Studios entry alongside Witherspoon and her Pacific Standard topper Bruna Papandrea.
