AT&T Audience Network is getting into business with Peter Farrelly.

The former DirecTV has handed out a 10-episode straight-to-series order for a half-hour comedy created by the Something About Mary alum and The Colbert Report's Bobby Mort.

Titled Loudermilk, the series tells a fictionalized story of a recovering alcoholic and substance abuse counselor with an extremely bad attitude about everything. He is unapologetically uncensored — and has managed to piss off everyone in his life. To Loudermilk, a stranger is just an enemy he hasn’t met yet. In his day-to-day life, the only thing Loudermilk has under control is his drinking.

Farrelly and Mort will serve as showrunners on the project, which hails from independent studio Primary Wave Entertainment. Production will begin in October in Vancouver, with Primary Wave set to co-produce the series. Farrelly, Mort, Primary Wave's Mark Burg and David Guillod will exec produce.

For AT&T, Loudermilk becomes the outlet's latest scripted comedy series following Greg Poehler entry You, Me, Her. Its slate of originals also includes the recently renewed MMA drama Kingdom, Full Circle, Rogue and the upcoming mini Mr. Mercedes, among others.

“When Peter Farrelly brought this project to us we knew his unique and edgy writing style he portrays in his films was a perfect fit for our demographic. We can’t wait to see how it translates to television on our network,”  Christopher Long, senior vp original content and production at AT&T, said Wednesday in a statement. “We are always looking to attract writers who have distinctive voices. To have the opportunity to work with a dream comedic team like Farrelly and Mort is a once in a lifetime opportunity that we’re thrilled to be a part of.”

Loudermilk is Primary Wave's latest scripted entry after the company was formed in 2015 following the merger of Burg's Evolution and Guillod and Jeff Morrone's Intellectual Artist Management and Larry Mestel's Primary Wave Music. The company also is behind Amazon's Bosch and BET's Being Mary Jane, among others.

Said Burg and Guillod in a joint statement: "Peter Farrelly wrote and directed some of the biggest and most quotable comedies of all time. Bobby Mort won an Emmy as a writer for one of the best late-night shows on television while in the confines of a small, poorly ventilated room under the pressure of a ticking clock. There is no better duo to craft an intoxicating narrative for a beautifully flawed malcontent navigating the misadventures of life. Working with this comedy dream team to produce our first scripted half-hour series is a wish come true.”

Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber, Shallow Hal) is with CAA; Mort is with Paradigm and Bodhi Entertainment.
