'Political Animals' Lands 'Dexter' Actor for Guest Role (Exclusive)
David Monahan joins the USA Network summer drama as a congressman, while "Fringe's" Blair Brown will also guest.
Political Animals is adding to its cast.
The six-episode political drama series from Greg Berlanti and Laurence Mark has recruited David Monahan, who recently had gigs on Dexter and Revenge, as the closested Republican Congressman Sean Reeves, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. He will appear in the fourth episode.
Meanwhile, Fringe actress Blair Brown has landed a plum role as journalist Susan Berg's (Carla Gugino) mother Barbara, THR confirms. As TVLine first reported, Brown is set to make an appearance in the fifth episode.
Monahan and Brown are just the latest to join the series, which counts Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave as a guest star.
Political Animals centers on Elaine Barrish (Sigourney Weaver), a divorced former first lady and current secretary of state, who is struggling to keep her family together while simultaneously dealing with the crises of the State Department. She finds an unlikely ally in a famous D.C. journalist (Gugino), who has spent her career tearing Elaine down.
Monahan has appeared in TV series like Dawson's Creek, Crossing Jordan and Privileged. Brown is readying for the fifth and final season of Fringe.
Political Animals launches July 15 at 10 p.m. on USA.
