Michelle Obama and Jon Stewart Discuss the President's Past With Pot on 'The Daily Show' (Video)
The First Lady downplays the marijuana use described in David Maraniss' upcoming biography: "By the time he was in college, like so many young people, he realized that he could do more with his life."
With David Maraniss' upcoming Barack Obama biography -- with ample references to the president's marijuana use as a teenager -- lingering in the headlines, Jon Stewart seemed inclined to mention it when First Lady Michelle Obama appeared on Monday's The Daily Show.
And like so many other topics covered -- Joe Biden's unique charms, her husband's approval ratings, vegetables -- the first lady handled it with her signature sense of humor.

"What is this ... the script of a Cheech and Chong movie?" Stewart asked the first lady, inquiring as to whether the president had sewn his wild oats before they met.
"By the time he was in college, like so many young people, he realized that he could do more with his life," she answered. "He had a mother that was always saying, 'You're so gifted, you're so talented.'"

Obama also said the 1982 death of Barack Obama Sr. had a lot to do with the president growing up.
"When he lost his father, that was one of those click-in moments," she said. "And he really buckled down, he transferred schools, went to Columbia and thought about how to use his life to the fullest."
