'Pretty Little Liars' Preview: 5 Treats From the Halloween Special (Video)
The ABC Family special goes back in time, right before the murder that started it all.
Wednesday’s Pretty Little Liars Halloween special episode promises plenty of tricks and treats by bringing viewers back to before it all started—before Alison’s murder.
The special episode, appropriately called “The First Secret,” will be the final episode until the show returns in 2012.
What does that mean for the young women of Rosewood? Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario), Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson), Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale) and Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) will be back together with Queen bee, Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse), circa 2008.
Here are a few of the tricks and treats viewers can expect from tonight’s prequel episode:
1. Alison Is the Star
While the girls’ lives often revolve around their late-friend Alison and her mysterious death and the appearance of “A,” Allison has not actually been a part of an episode other than the pilot. Sure, she’s shown up in hallucinations, flashbacks and dreams, but in “The First Secret,” Alison is a living, breathing star. The story is told from her perspective, and will be one of the first chances for viewers to really get to learn more about what she was like before her death.
2. Jenna Can See
The episode is set in a time before Jenna’s accident, so the girl can see. She’s still a little bit creepy though, even dressed as Lady Gaga. Viewers will also get to see the first time Alison and Jenna meet (watch clip below).
3. Some Answer Will be Given, But Also More Questions
While it’s been called a stand-alone episode, it will have touch on mysterious of the previous season, and even set up some new ones for the upcoming one in 2012. “If you were to watch this episode, it connects some dots that we've already laid the ground work for, but it also plants the seeds of new mysteries to come,” writer-executive producer I. Marlene King told MTV.
4. Noel Is All Over the Place
Noel doesn't have a large role in the current season, but he's a big focus of the prequel. He hosts the Halloween party that the ladies attended. And it's a scary rager.
5. Somebody’s Scared
At one point in the episode, Alison says, “He brought me here to kill me,” and she looks scared. There also is a menacing figure in a spooky mask that is affecting her life. Is it one of her little games? Is she being pranked? Or is she in real danger? When Alison seems to go missing, the girls look to find her in a very creepy house.
