'Prison Break' Star Lands 'House' Role
Wentworth Miller will appear in the eighth season, creator David Shore tells THR, who hints at a “slight shift” in storytelling.
The eighth season of House doesn’t begin for another month and already it’s ramping up its slate of guest stars.
Former Prison Break star Wentworth Miller has booked an episode on the veteran Fox medical series, creator David Shore told The Hollywood Reporter at the Fox fall premiere party. Miller last appeared on the small screen with a guest role on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU in a 2009 episode and the Prison Break telepic The Final Break.

Miller’s appearance won’t be House’s only challenge in the new season, which begins Monday, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. on Fox. Shore says “the cases” will give the doctor a run for his money, who also said that the departure of Lisa Edelstein was one reason why the producers “decided to have the time passage [in the season opener]. The world outside of House has settled into its own environment and it’s completely different in so many ways, including the fact that Lisa’s not there. House has to adapt.”
That means going back to focusing on the basics, as was evident in earlier seasons. “In tone, in some ways, we have” gone back, Shore explains. The show has “always been case-based, but it’ll be more than that. We’re going to have fun with House messing with people. It hasn’t changed that much. It’s a slight shift.”
With cast additions and departures, is it time to hang up the stethoscope by season’s end or does Shore foresee a Season 9?
“That is yet to be known,” he said.
