Rob Riggle to Co-Star in NBC's Rob Lowe Comedy
He will play Lowe's former tennis doubles partner in the single-camera comedy from Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory.
Rob Riggle is about to go head to head with Rob Lowe.
The prolific comedian has been tapped to star opposite the Parks and Recreation alum in NBC's comedy pilot The Pro, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The single-camera comedy is set in and around a tennis and golf club, and stars Lowe as Ben Bertrahm, a former doubles champion who is reunited with his ex-partner Bobby Welch (Riggle) after a public feud that left them both floundering in life.
Riggle's Bobby comes to the tennis and golf shop as the new head pro -- much to Ben's chagrin. Following their split, Bobby went on to have an illustrious career and brags about his lifestyle. However, now he's dirt poor and living in a youth hostel and the duo wind up becoming co-pros at the club.
For Riggle, this marks the comedian's latest TV gig. His credits include Adult Swim's NTSF:SD:SUV::, Drunk History and Modern Family as well as features 21 Jump Street and its upcoming sequel, and Dumb and Dumber To. He's repped by WME, Principato-Young and Sloane Offer. He also was the subject of a proposed Modern Family spinoff that would have centered on his overconfident real estate agent Gil Thorpe that has now been put on hold.
King of the Hill's Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory will pen the script for The Pro, with Lowe, Karey Burke, Marc Gurvits and Todd Holland exec producing. Holland will also direct the single-camera pilot.
