'Rookie Blue' Finale: Chris Comforts Gail Over Oliver's Disappearance (Exclusive Video)

Will 15 Division be the same after the Sept. 12 season closer? THR debuts a sneak peek.

15 Division is under attack.

Rookie Blue heads into the final episode of the season with one of its veteran officers missing following numerous targeted attacks against the police precinct, the most serious resulting in a rookie cop suffering major gunshot wounds.

The season closer finds the cops and detectives of 15 Division racing against time in their bid to find Officer Oliver Shaw (Matt Gordon) after they discover past suspect Kevin Ford (Michael Cram) is behind it all.

In a scene from the Sept. 12 episode, exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, 15 Division's Gail Peck (Charlotte Sullivan) and Chris Diaz (Travis Milne) try to cope with Oliver's disappearance as best they can. As a coping mechanism, Gail forecasts how things would have been.

STORY: 'Rookie Blue': Charlotte Sullivan on Gail's New Romance, 'Gut-Wrenching' Finale

"He makes a very dumb joke. Chloe (Priscilla Faia) gets out of the hospital. I make fun of her to her face. We go back to the Penny. We stiff up the bill," Gail says. "That's life as it was. That's life as it should be."

It's then she realizes just how "easy" they've had it. But Chris takes the moment to look back at the year that was: "I don't know. Last year was pretty rough."

And when Gail takes a deeper look into past events that led to where they are now, it all seems "very stupid right now."

Maybe that's the point, Chris says, dropping a piece of wisdom on his colleague/friend: "When it's dark enough, you can see the stars." Watch the full scene above.

In a recent chat with THR, Sullivan called the finale "gut-wrenching." "It makes you go, 'OK, what the f---?' " she says with a laugh. "I remember watching it being, 'Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!' "

Rookie Blue wraps up season four Thursday at 10 p.m. on ABC.
