Ryan Seacrest Inks New Deal for E! Red Carpet Shows
Ryan Seacrest will keep his spot on the red carpet.
The multi-hyphenate has inked a new two-year deal to continue hosting and executive producing E!'s Live from the Red Carpet series. The pact will keep Seacrest, who's been the face of the carpet for the network since 2006, for major award shows through 2017.
“Ryan's close relationships with many of the celebrities on these carpets, combined with his command over all things entertainment and pop culture, makes for interviews that are surprising, compelling and always entertaining — and our viewers love his spontaneous moments on the carpet," NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment's Lifestyle Networks president Frances Berwick said in a statement announcing the news Tuesday.
Added Seacrest, “NBCUniversal has long been an important partner to me, and I’m excited to continue our strategic relationship. Live television is both thrilling and challenging in countless ways, and it’s a privilege to be a part of E’s Live from the Red Carpet shows. It’s truly a credit to the entire cast and incredible crew that we're consistently able to produce the best awards season coverage in the business.”
The live specials, a co-production between Ryan Seacrest Productions and Wilshire Studios, continues to deliver for the pop culture-centric network. At September's Emmy awards, for instance, hosts Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic drew 1.1 million viewers, up seven percent from a year earlier. Viewership peaked in its final quarter hour leading into the awards show, with an audience of nearly two million tuned in.
News of the new deal comes as Seacrest's entertainment portfolio continues to expand. This summer, sibling NBC announced he would host its late-night show at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. He also inked a new, expanded deal with iHeartMedia, which has him working as a key advisor for the company and serving as a top personality across all iHeart platforms.
Earlier this year, Seacrest struck a major deal with Endemol for the unscripted division of his production company, which produces the Kardashian franchise, Bravo's Shahs of Sunset and ABC Family’s transgender docuseries Becoming Us. On the scripted side, where RSP is set up at CBS TV Studios, the company has projects in development with talent including Ludacris. Additionally, RSP is in production on drama Shades of Blue, starring Jennifer Lopez, for mid-season at NBC.
Off camera, Seacrest, who is repped by CAA and Hansen Jacobson, has long-standing partnerships with Coca-Cola and Ford, and launched a tailored men’s clothing and accessories line, Ryan Seacrest Distinction, sold exclusively at Macy’s.
