'Scandal' Adds Portia de Rossi for Season 4 Arc
Details for the actress' "top secret" role are being kept under wraps.
ABC's Scandal is kicking off its fourth season with a new mystery.
The Kerry Washington-starrer has enlisted Portia de Rossi for a "top secret" arc, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Ellen DeGeneres, a Scandal superfan, made the announcement on Wednesday, tweeting: "So annoying when people brag on twitter & that's why I'm not tweeting that Portia just signed on to do a top secret arc on "Scandal". Oops."
For de Rossi, the role will mark her return to the small screen after she reprised her role as Lindsay on Netflix's Arrested Development revival. Scandal also puts the actress back in business with ABC, where she previously starred on Better Off Ted and had a starring role in ABC's DeGeneres-produced comedy The Smart One that did not move forward. Her small-screen credits also include NBC's Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane. She's repped by WME.
Scandal showrunner Shonda Rhimes told THR that season four will return to focus on its "core people." "A lot of it was a way of taking care of Kerry, but now that we have the ability to use Kerry the way we need to use her, it means we get to bring everything back to our core in a way that we had in season two and one," she said.
