'The Show With Vinny' Preview: Uncle Nino Braces for Fame (Video)
The “Jersey Shore” spinoff, a reality-talk show hybrid on MTV, airs Sunday night after the Movie Awards with an official premiere slated for May 2.
“You’re not famous,” says Jersey Shore star Vinny Guadagnino, annoyance seeping through his calm voice, as his Uncle Nino recounts a Hollywood Boulevard fan experience for The Hollywood Reporter.
The MTV star is joined by his scene-stealing family, mom Paola and the outspoken Uncle Nino, in THR’s cover lounge to promote their Shore spinoff, the reality-talk show hybrid The Show With Vinny. And while the program will premiere May 2 on MTV, audiences will see a sneak preview immediately following the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.
Uncle Nino and Paola gained notoriety after appearing in multiple episodes of Jersey Shore during its six-season run. For mom, whose cooking has been touted countless times on national television, fame is not a goal, but she’s happy to be by her son’s side for all his endeavors. Nino, on the other hand, became a fan favorite after making himself right at home in the shore house, hopping right in the hot tub with Snooki, JWoww and the rest.
While Vinny prefers to step out incognito, often with a hoodie and sunglasses, Uncle Nino says he “gets a kick out of it” when fans approach him for photographs. (In fact, Vinny accuses his uncle of approaching unsuspecting individuals and asking if they’d like to take a picture with him.)
“The funniest part is that from Jersey Shore, a couple people ask them for pictures here and there and Uncle Nino’s like, ‘I love it, it’s great,’” says Vinny. “I can’t wait until this show blows up and then he can’t even leave his house and people are bothering him. I can’t wait.”
On The Show With Vinny, the Guadagnino family welcomes guests including Ke$ha, Mark Wahlberg and Lil Wayne into their Staten Island home for a real Italian meal cooked entirely by Paola. Guests will break bread with the entire Guadagnino clan, while Vinny interviews.
Stay tuned for THR’s full interview with Vinny, Paola and Uncle Nino, coming in May.
