Showtime's 'Homeland' Scores Viewership High On Halloween Weekend

The network's new series and returning series, "Dexter," experienced a surge in viewers on Sunday.

Showtime experienced a treat over the recent Halloween weekend for its new drama series, Homeland, and its returning thriller, Dexter, against a strong night for Sunday Night Football on NBC.

STORY: Showtime Renews 'Homeland' for Second Season

Homeland, which stars Claire Danes as CIA agent Carrie Mathison, continued its steady audience growth and attracted its largest audience of the season. The terrorist drama attracted 1.28 million viewers to its 10 p.m. airing on Sunday and 1.6 million total viewers for the evening. That’s an 18% increase from the series’ premiere on Oct. 2.

Dexter, its lead-in at 9 p.m. with Michael C. Hall, also bounced back from a recent ratings dip attracting 2.42 million total viewers for Sunday night – it’s best audience since its record-breaking Season 6 premiere.
