Showtime Moves 'Dexter' to Summer, Sets Premieres for New Dramas
UPDATED: New series "Ray Donovan" and "Masters of Sex" will follow the pay cabler's top dramas "Dexter" and "Homeland," respectively.
Showtime is splitting up two of its top dramas, Showtime entertainment chief David Nevins announced Saturday.
Dexter, which has always aired in the fall paired with Homeland for the last two seasons, will launch its eighth and potentially final season Sunday, June 30 at 9 p.m., serving as a launch pad for the forthcoming Liev Schreiber drama Ray Donovan at 10 p.m.
Dexter's move to the summer will have the veteran drama facing off in the same time slot as HBO's True Blood, which a reporter said had overlap in audience. Addressing the competition, Nevins said, "People will find them both."

Homeland, meanwhile, will remain a fall show, returning for season three Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. as a lead-in to forthcoming Michael Sheen drama Masters of Sex at 10 p.m.
The new season of Inside Comedy returns Monday, Feb. 11 at 11 p.m., with Nurse Jackie premiering April 14 at 9 p.m. and The Borgias following at 10 p.m. that evening.
The Big C: hereafter will begin its final episodes April 29 at 10 p.m., which Nevins said will feature "a change in tone."
The World According to Dick Cheney, directed by R.J. Cutler, will premiere Friday, March 15.
Episodes, which is going into production and will be fairly split between Los Angeles and London, will be back on the Showtime schedule "fairly early" in 2014," Nevins said. Web Therapy's new season returns in the summer.
House of Lies, Shameless and Californication (Nevins was "optimistic" about the future of the David Duchovny dark comedy) return Sunday evening.
