'Single Ladies' Revived at BET's Centric

The offshoot cable network has picked up a fourth season of the series, inking a production deal with Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere's Flavor Unit Entertainment.

Single Ladies is bouncing back to TV.

Following its February cancellation at VH1, BET's Centric has greenlighted a fourth season of the series, the cabler announced Tuesday.

The music- and entertainment-themed cable network has inked Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere's Flavor Unit Entertainment -- which produces Single Ladies -- to a new co-production deal that includes a fourth season of the dramedy. BET Networks will develop and launch the all-new fourth season of the series about three best friends with different philosophies on love, sex and relationships.

The deal expands BET and Centric's relationship with Latifah's Flavor Unit banner. BET in March acquired repeats of Latifah's syndicated daytime talk show and started airing those March 31 as part of its late-night block. 

"We are thrilled to be working once again with Flavor Unit Entertainment and Queen Latifah. She does it all and we are happy to have her join us as a creative force as we continue to grow Centric into a premiere destination for African-American women. We couldn’t be more excited about what's ahead," BET Networks chairman and CEO Debra L. Lee said.

"At more than 10 million strong, and in control of $20 billion in buying power, the African-American woman is an increasingly powerful, yet often overlooked consumer. No other network has embraced her with content designed specifically for her -- until now," said Louis Carr, BET Networks president of broadcast and media sales. “Centric is the first network to deliver the programming that celebrates, inspires and addresses her unique perspective."

In its third season, Single Ladies averaged 2.2 million total viewers, on par with its sophomore run.
