As first reported by TV Line, Jordan will play a Brooklyn-born singer with a self-destructive streak as Smash's musical Bombshell moves beyond preview performances.
Jordan, who picked up his lead actor in a musical nomination for his role as Jack Kelly in Newsies, will continue to appear in the Broadway production while filming Smash.

The role is one of three the series is reportedly adding for its sophomore season under new showrunner Josh Safran (Gossip Girl). He'll help fill the void created by the departure of original cast members Jaime Cepero (Ellis), Raza Jaffrey (Dev) and Brian D'Arcy James (Frank), the latter of whom will return in some capacity to wrap up his story line opposite Debra Messing's Julia.
