It should perhaps be no surprise that Saturday Night Live began its season 40 premiere lampooning the NFL's recent scandals.

Host Chris Pratt portrayed NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Kenan Thompson played Ray Lewis and Jay Pharoah was Shannon Sharpe.

Lewis and Sharpe, both of whom previously faced accusations of domestic violence, avoided answering questions from CNN's Candy Crowley (Aidy Bryant) on violence in the NFL.

Goodell thanked all those people who stood by him, including unpopular figures such as Redskins owner Dan Snyder and Michael Vick.

Goodell added that the NFL's new slogan is "We Fight Women," before adding, "Excuse me — 'We Fight for Women.' "
