'SNL': Miley Cyrus Mocks VMAs Performance (Video)
Miley Cyrus kicked off her Saturday Night Live hosting duties in a cold open centered on her controversial MTV Video Music Awards performance.
Set in 2045, the cold open revealed Cyrus' twerking-heavy performance set in motion the downfall of America. In a flashback, Cyrus was seen backstage at the VMAs, with an older Miley Cyrus (Vanessa Bayer) traveling back in time to warn her younger counterpart about the performance.
She had a lot of questions for the younger Miley, asking why she constantly stuck out her tongue.
"I'm having tiny strokes, yo," the younger Cyrus responded.
"Even though my teenagers are the most hyper mature teenagers in history, they are easily shocked by anything remotely sexual," he said.
During her opening monologue, Cyrus went on to admit she got a lot of flack for her performance.
"I got a lot of letters from angry mothers, turned on fathers," she said. "I actually got a complaint from the inventor of the giant foam finger. It's OK. I gave him tickets to tonight's show. So we're all good, right Jeff?" (The camera cut to a man with a giant foam finger.)
"I don't apologize for my VMA performance. If I owe anyone apology, it's the people who make the bottom half of shirts," Cyrus said.
She also said she wouldn't be twerking or playing Hannah Montana during the episode.
"But I can give you an update of what she's up to," Cyrus said. "She was murdered."
