'Son of God's' Jesus to Co-Star in CW Pilot
Diogo Morgado will play a mysterious figure in "The Messengers," the sci-fi drama from "Teen Wolf's" Eoghan O'Donnell and Basil Iwanyk.
Jesus is coming to The CW.
Diogo Morgado, who played Jesus in Mark Burnett's Son of God and The Bible, has been tapped to co-star in the network's drama pilot The Messengers.
The Messengers centers on a mysterious object that crashes down to Earth and a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who die from the energy pulse. They then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse.
Morgado will play a character referred to as The Man, a mysterious figure who wakes up naked and burned in the desert and sets out on a mission to provide some answers about the strange events.
Sofia Black-D'Elia (Skins), Joel Courtney (Super 8) and Jon Fletcher co-star in the drama from CBS Television Studios and Thunder Road. Teen Wolf's Eoghan O'Donnell will pen the script. The Town's Basil Iwanyk will exec produce, while O'Donnell will serve as a co-EP alongside Kent Kubena and Ava Jamshidi. Stephen Williams will direct the pilot, which is filming in Albuquerque, N.M.
For Morgado, the role marks the Portuguese actor and former model's first regular role on a U.S. series. His resume includes a lengthy roster of Portuguese telenovelas and TV series including Amo-te Teresa. His credits also include an episode of ABC's Revenge. He's repped by Park Noack Agency and Spellbound Entertainment.
The actor is currently starring in Burnett and Roma Downey's Son of God, the duo's feature film follow-up to History channel's record-breaking 10-part miniseries The Bible.
