Sony TV Ups Wayne Garvie to International President
Sony officially has a new head of international.
Wayne Garvie, who has been overseeing international productions following Zack Van Amburg's and Jamie Erlicht's departures, has been named president of international production for Sony Pictures Television Studios.
In his new role, Garvie will lead the studio's international TV business and oversee the creative teams outside the U.S. in addition to SPT's 20 owned and joint-venture production companies around the world. Based in London, Garvie will continue to report to Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra.
"Wayne has been a strong leader, galvanizing our international production team with his energy, enthusiasm and creativity without missing a beat," said Vinciquerra. "I want to thank Wayne for his hard work over the last few months of transition at SPT. We look forward to growing this important line of business for SPE with Wayne officially at the helm."
Van Amburg and Erlicht had overseen worldwide for the studio after Steve Mosko's departure. After the duo's exit for Apple, Sony TV under Vinciquerra divided the studio into individual units focused on U.S. and international.
"I'm thrilled to work with some of the world's greatest storytellers in Sony's international group. I want to thank Tony for this opportunity to lead them and continue to make great content that entertains audiences around the world," said Garvie, who had been serving as chief creative officer at SPT International Production. In his former role, Garvie shepherded series such as Netflix's The Crown and BBC/Amazon's A Very English Scandal.
Before joining Sony in 2012, Garvie worked at All3Media, where he was managing director of international.
With Garvie now overseeing international, Vinciquerra's senior TV executive suite is filled. Jeff Frost was promoted from executive vp U.S. business affairs to the new role of president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, reporting to Vinciquerra. Jason Clodfelter and Chris Parnell were elevated from executive vp drama development and programming to co-presidents of Sony Pictures Television Studios. They will report directly to Frost.
