The Viacom-owned cable network has greenlighted a new spinoff of Jail: Las Vegas, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Jail: Big Texas is shot on location at county jails throughout the Lone Star State and follows prison inmates from their initial booking through their first moments behind bars. John and Morgan Langley executive produce the series for Langley Productions.

Spike has ordered a 20-episode first season, which is set to premiere Saturday, July 9, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

In addition to Jail: Las Vegas, which premiered last year on Spike after originally launching on MyNetwork TV in 2007, Langley Productions also is behind the long-running unscripted hit Cops. The latter has called Spike home since 2013.

“We are delighted that our partnership with Spike continues to grow, and this project is the perfect complement to our long-standing series Cops,” Morgan Langley said Thursday in a statement.

Jail is the latest franchise for Spike. The cable network also has the upcoming Lip Sync Battle spinoff Lip Sync Battle Jr., and the Tattoo Nightmares series.
