Starz to Preview 'Magic City' Following 'Spartacus' Season Finale
The pay cabler will also preview the second and third episodes of the period drama starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Starz is looking to expose its upcoming period drama to the biggest audience possible, employing a preview strategy most recently used employed by HBO.
The network will unspool its upcoming period drama Magic City a week early, airing the premiere as a special preview on March 30 following the season finale of Spartacus: Vengeance.
The strategy most recently was employed by HBO when the premium network previewed horse-racing drama Luck behind the season finale of mob drama Boardwalk Empire.
In addition, Starz will also offer a three-episode sampling of Magic City online starting March 31 when the episodes will be available online and through select Starz affiliates including Comcast's Xfinity TV, DirecTV, Dish, Verizon FiOS, Charter Comunications, AT&T Uverse and more. In addition, the first three episodes of the Jeffrey Dean Morgan starrer will be available on the network's Magic City Facebook page.
Magic City, set in the 1950s at Miami's Miramar Playa Hotel follows the hotel's management, clients and crime families as they navigate politics ad personal relationships, will premiere its six-episode season on April 6 at 10 p.m.
The roll-out also follows Starz's early online preview of its Kelsey Grammer political drama Boss.
