Starz's 'Evil Dead' Sequel Casts Female Lead
Starz has found a partner in crime for Ash (Bruce Campbell).
Girlfriends and Sleepy Hollow actress Jill Marie Jones will co-star opposite Campbell in the cabler's Evil Dead sequel, Ash vs. Evil Dead.
Campbell will reprise his role as the title character Ash, a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the past three decades avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its evil grip.

In the 10-episode half-hour series, Jones will play Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan state trooper who, following the grisly murder of her partner, sets out to find Ash and prove his responsibility for the crime. But as she soon learns, Ash and his cohorts may be mankinds only hope against the plague of the evil dead.
Jones starred as Toni Childs on Girlfriends and has had a recurring role on Fox's Sleepy Hollow as Cynthia Irving. She joins a cast that includes Ray Santiago (Touch, Meet the Fockers) and Dana DeLorenzo (Growing Up Fisher).
Set for a late 2015 premiere, production on Ash vs. Evil Dead will begin in the spring in New Zealand. Sam Raimi will direct the pilot, which he co-wrote with his brother, Ivan Raimi (Darkman, Army of Darkness, Drag Me to Hell), and Tom Spezialy (Chuck, Reaper, Desperate Housewives). Craig DiGregorio (Chuck) will exec produce and serve as the writing showrunner along with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Campbell. Ivan Raimi will co-executive produce, while Aaron Lam (Spartacus) will produce.
Jones is repped by Global Artists Agency, LINK Management and Fuller Downs.
