Diane Keaton Could've Dated Steve Jobs: 'What an Idiot I Was' (Video)
While promoting her book, the actress opens up about a visit to the apartment of the late Apple co-founder.
Diane Keaton was a fool for love. On Tuesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress talked about her new memoir, Then Again, and got to talking about her past loves.

The talk host was definitely digging for the romantic dirt, real and on-screen: Woody Allen, Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson… and Steve Jobs. Yes, Steve Jobs. But, that story doesn’t have a happy ending.
During the actress’ Annie Hall period (late 70s), Keaton recalls that the two were neighbors in New York City in the San Remo apartment building on Central Park West and the 8-years-younger man very much wanted to meet her.
So, she went over to his massive apartment that she described as occupying several floors in one of the building's famed two towers. And that’s where the romance ended.

“And he starts talking and all he’s talking about is the computer thing,” Keaton recalls. “How the computer was going to take over the world. And I’m sitting there like, ‘Ok, right.’ And he keeps talking about how everyone is going to have a computer in their life, in their world, in their home. And I’m going, ‘Right, Right.’ And I never saw him again ever, because obviously I just wasn’t prepared for that. I thought, ‘Is he nuts?’ ”
So, what was Keaton’s take away from that experience? “Can you imagine? What an idiot I was.” She then acknowledges that she wrote her book on a Mac computer.
Jobs would eventually marry Laurene Powell in 1991 and have three children (as well as an earlier child out of wedlock).
