Steven Spielberg's 'Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero': Constructing One World Trade Center (Exclusive Video)
Discovery Channel's two-part special documents one of America's most daunting construction challenges.
Executive producer, Steven Spielberg, Dreamworks Television, Discovery Channel, and the Science Channel bring us Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero, which documents the emotions, people, and challenges behind constructing the 104-story One World Trade Center.
And, The Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive first look at the commercial-free, 6-hour special, with the first installment premiering Thursday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. and concluding Thursday, Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. on Discovery Channel.
With the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 approaching, the documentary takes a close look at the complicated process of rebuilding on the site with a construction deadline to meet, while at the same time honoring those who lost their lives and their families.
The new site will include four skyscrapers, a transportation hub, a museum and a memorial featuring the largest man-made waterfall in history – all being constructed at the same time and on the same location.
In THR’s exclusive clips above, former New York governor, George Pataki, talks about what went in to planning the site, we take a look at some of the damaged vehicles from 9/11 -- specifically Ladder 3, which held 12 firefighters who all perished -- and we get a look at “The Pavilion,” which will house the memorial Twin Tower Tridents.
