USA Preps Fan-Driven 'Suits' Marathon
The NBCUniversal-owned cable network continues its commitment to engaging with its audience through "Suits After Hours."
Suits is taking a page out of Psych's book.
USA Network announced it is holding its first fan-centric marathon for Suits, dubbed Suits After Hours -- similar in vein to targeted marathons for Psych -- on Friday, June 6, from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. ET/PT. The marathon comes less than a week before Suits kicks off season four Wednesday, June 11, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Beginning Thursday through May 4, fans can choose the six episodes at the Suits website, http://suits.usanetwork.com. The marathon will highlight the six main characters, starting with Harvey at 12 a.m., followed by Donna, Mike, Jessica, Rachel and finally Louis.
The recent Psych marathons, Night of a Million Goodbyes (ahead of the March 26 series finale) and Psych All-Night, had similar conceits with various castmembers' messages and favorite episodes playing on the hour.
Additionally, USA says viewers watching the marathon have the opportunity to play Suits Live, on a second screen where they can compete against others on their devices by answering polls, trivia and their responses during the telecasts. A promise of prizes serves as one of the incentives USA hopes will drive viewers to participate. Another potential draw: select fan-created Instagram videos may be broadcast during the six-hour marathon.
USA is no stranger to implementing fan-driven initiatives for various series, most notably Psych. Doing the same for current scripted programs in its arsenal signals the network's continued commitment to engagement with its viewers through non-traditional avenues.
