'Supernatural's' Kim Rhodes Previews Her Return — Plus Watch an Exclusive Clip

Supernatural fans last saw Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) as she was stepping back into the mother role. Last season, Jody stumbled upon a young girl (Katherine Ramdeen) who had been taken prisoner by a group of vampires. Knowing firsthand what it's like to lose your entire family, Jody took the girl in and promised to be there for her. However, when Jody returns to Supernatural on Tuesday, her surrogate daughter will be nowhere to be found.

"We don't see Jody with Alex again, but we do get some phone conversations, and we do get a very descriptive communication with Sam about what's going on. It's what you would think a teenager is up to," Rhodes teased of her new maternal relationship.

Instead, Supernatural catches up with Jody — and Sheriff Donna (returning guest star Briana Buckmaster) — at a sheriff's retreat, where again the show has some fun with a group of specific personalities. Donna is looking to bond with Jody, but Jody really doesn't want girl time, the star said. After all she has experienced of late, she is business first, relaxation when all the bad guys — and bad things — are gone.

"[When] she started, her primary role in life was mother. She worked as a cop, but her primary role was a mother. As soon as that was taken from her, cop slammed down. So she just doesn't care anymore. [Her attitude is] 'I can wear something that can hide a gun, and I can get blood on.' It's a very visceral reaction to the loss of a child, which is 'Screw it, I'm going to fight back,' " Rhodes said.

During the episode, the women stumble upon a body with "just strings of meat and skin hanging off the bones"; unlike most of the other attendees, Jody knows it's more than just an animal attack. So she calls in Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) to hunt the new monster.

Check out Jody and Donna's different ways of investigating and dealing with a potential threat in the exclusive clip above. Supernatural airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
