Syfy Picks Up 'Monster Man' to Series
The docu-series is expected to premiere in January 2012.
Syfy has given a six-episode order to Monster Man, a docu-series revolving around a Hollywood creature-making family, the network announced Friday.
Monster Man goes behind-the-scenes of Cleve Hall and his unique family business: a monster prop-building workshop.
Production begins in Los Angeles this month and is expected to premiere in January 2012.
“We are entering the creative world of a very eccentric, artistic family,” said Mark Stern, president of original content at Syfy and co-head of content for UCP. “Cleve and his team will give our viewers a rare behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring monster props, puppets and costume pieces to life. But they’re also a family business, so the unusual dynamic between them is half the fun.”
Hall is a veteran in the business, entering prop design since he was a teenager. He has created props for films for Paramount, DreamWorks, Warner Bros. and Disney, including Ed Wood, and Yo Gabba Gabba.
