Teri Hatcher has booked her first post-Desperate Housewives gig.
The actress will recur for four episodes on ABC Family's fashion-centric drama Jane by Design as Jane's long-lost mother. She will film her arc between mid-May through mid-June, and her first appearance will be in the June 19 episode.
Additionally, Hatcher will make her directorial debut, stepping behind the camera on an upcoming episode of the series.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to direct," Hatcher said. "So many of the crew and cast of Desperate Housewives have been encouraging me to do this for a long time, from Vanessa Williams to James Denton to the talented camera crew department and producers. Now that I have time, I’m excited to wholeheartedly conquer new ventures."
"Jane by Design is charming, with very funny performances," she added. "I look forward to working with new and old friends over there and helping them tell stories both in front and behind the camera.”
Jane by Design, which premiered in January, follows Jane (Erica Dasher), a high school teen with an eclectic fashion taste who lands a job as an executive assistant to a demanding creative director (Andie MacDowell) at a big fashion house. The series is created by April Blair, who also executive producers with Gavin Polone and John Ziffren.
Hatcher has played Susan for eight seasons on Housewives, which will air its series finale May 13.
Jane by Design returns with new episodes at 9 p.m. June 5.
