TV Ratings: 'Terra Nova' Season Finale Fizzles, 'Fear Factor' Numbers Dip
Fox's sci-fi drama continued to match series lows during the two hour finale, though the network ties CBS on a tepid Monday night.
Following last week's low numbers, Fox's Terra Nova failed to notch much of a season finale boost last night.
The Steven Spielberg-produced series received a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demo at 8:00 (matching season lows), rising to 2.2 in the second hour. With viewership hovering between 7.2 and 7.1 million, Fox remained neck-and-neck with CBS throughout the evening, which aired repeats of How I Met Your Mother (6.8 million, 2.3), 2 Broke Girls (7.7 million, 2.7), Two and a Half Men (8.4 million, 2.5), Mike & Molly (7.8 million, 2.2) and Hawaii Five-0 (6.9 million, 1.8).
Fear Factor returned on Monday for its second episode since the much-anticipated revival. Last week, NBC's gross-out competition series nabbed an impressive 3.2 rating in the key demo in its first hour and 3.5 in its second. This week, Fear Factor fell to 2.4 among adults, clocking 6.2 million viewers in the 9:00 hour.
NBC placed third for the evening, averaging a 1.7 rating among 18-49 year olds and 5.4 million viewers. In addition to Fear Factor, the network led in with Who's Still Standing (5.5 million. 1.5) and followed with Rock Center (4.3 million, 1.2)
Over on ABC, Holiday specials Kung Fu Panda (4.7 million, 1.3) and A Chipmunk Christmas (4.9 million, 1.4) led into reality competition You Deserve It (4.1 million, 1.1) and a repeat of Castle (4.6 million, 1.0). Meanwhile, the CW earned a nightly average of 1.2 million viewers and 0.3 in the key demo with back-to-back re-runs of Rachel Bilson's Hart of Dixie.
