'The Talk's' Sharon Osbourne Denies She Had Leah Remini Fired (Poll)
The rock star wife addresses allegations made by her former co-host on the CBS daytime talk show.
There’s a very volatile “she said, she said” fight going on between former The Talk co-hosts Sharon Osbourne and Leah Remini, in which the actress says that her former colleague was behind having her fired from the show.
During a Q&A with her Twitter followers on Monday, Remini dropped a bombshell when she tweeted, "yes. [Sharon] had us fired she told howard stern. explains why she never called us back." Among the allegations, Remini says that Osbourne thought she was “awkward” and “not funny” and said that the rock star wife and America’s Got Talent judge believed that she and fellow ousted co-host Holly Robinson Peete were “ghetto.”
Osbourne took to Twitter to refute Remini’s claims later on Tuesday.
“In response to Leah Remini's continuous comments that I had her fired from @TheTalk_CBS, let me just go on the record to say,” Osbourne writes. “I had absolutely nothing to do w her departure from the show & have no idea why she continues to take to Twitter to spread this false gossip. Leah knows that I have never been in the position to hire or fire anyone on the show.”
“That being said, my only wish is that Leah would just stop all this negative, unprofessional, and childish behavior,” she continues. “It’s been seven months. It’s time to move on. Leah is a very talented actress and I only wish her happiness and success. I know that better things are to come if she can just get beyond all this negativity.”
'Fans were shocked when CBS decided not to renew the original co-hosts’ contracts without any formal statement or even an acknowledgement on the Season 2 premiere episode. Even months later, viewers continued to wonder what had happened to the missing stars.
In her first interview about the incident, Peete told The Hollywood Reporter how the network kept her in the dark about her status on the show until about two days before it returned last September.
“Usually when you get fired, your boss brings you in, sits you down and tells you why they can’t keep you,” Peete, 47, told THR. “They say we have to downsize or you’re not doing this, you’re not doing that. I was never given that opportunity.”
Since being let go, the actresses have returned to their acting roots. Peete has appeared in a recurring role on CBS’ Mike & Molly and made a cameo in the new 21 Jump Street movie based on the TV series that made her a star. Remini has nabbed a role on the ABC comedy pilot, White Van Man.
Meanwhile, co-host Julie Chen is probably happy to let the two women fight it out. Some believed she was behind Peete and Remini’s ousting. Breathe, Julie.
CBS recently renewed The Talk along with its current hosts Osbourne, Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler.
