While the Maroon 5 frontman can see that the idea is "cool," he doesn’t think it's something the NBC series cares to take part in.

On Monday, The Voice’s first winner and Adam Levine’s mentee, Javier Colon, welcomed the idea of taking on American Idol and X Factor’s champs in Simon Cowell’s proposed “super final.” But his coach is barely bothering with the suggestion.

“He’s so hell bent on competing with other shows,” Levine tells Access Hollywood of Cowell. “We’re not really interested in a way.”

“That’s kind of a cool idea, actually, but I’m not so sure we’re totally interested in what everyone else is doing,” he continues. “We’re just kind of worrying about what we do ‘cause we all know the more we worry about everybody else, the more the quality of what you’re doing tends to suffer. So, we want to just do what we do.”

Those slights at the other competitions’ quality are probably well-deserved payback. After all, both those shows have delivered their fair share of jabs to the NBC series.

Cowell has mocked The Voice’s coaches for their track record for finding talent. And Idol judge Randy Jackson has called The Voice a place where people who couldn’t make it on their shows go for a second chance. And there’s more for that came from.

As for the idea of a combined sing-off, there’s definitely some entertainment value there for viewers. But with American Idol’s ratings experiencing a decline over previous seasons and The X Factor’s current state of, shall we say, reconstruction, it might not be something those Fox shows could stand to lose.

And as far as The Voice is concerned, Levine is probably right. If it ain’t broke…
