'The Game's' Tia Mowry Lands Lead Role on ABC Family Movie
The actress, reality star, and author will costar with Tori Spelling in the TV film, Mistle-Tones, set to air during the holiday season.
Tia Mowry is about to hit another high note in her career.
The Game actress, Style Network reality star, and author has just landed the lead role in the ABC Family movie, Mistle-Tones, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. She’ll play Holly, who is described as charming with a strong singing voice, though she’s not very aggressive.
The movie finds her auditioning for the Mistle-Tones, the singing group her mother founded forty years ago. But, she ends up losing the spot to the best friend of the group’s unofficial leader Marci (played by Tori Spelling). So, Holly sets out to create a new group and takes the Mistle-Tones on in a singing competition. Shooting on the movie begins in two weeks in Utah.
At the same time, Mowry will be shooting the second season of her Style Network reality series, Tia & Tamera. Mowry also stars on BET’s The Game. And her book, OH, BABY!: Pregnancy Tales and Advice from One Hot Mama to the Next (Gotham Books) will be released on May 14.
Mowry is nominated for a 2012 NAACP Image award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for The Game. Both The Game and Tia & Tamera are also nominated in their respective categories.
Mowry is repped by Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin Nilon Entertainment.
ABC Family did not immediately respond to THR's requests for confirmation.
