TLC Explores Clogging With 'Down South Dance' Special (Exclusive Video)
The network will use the season finale of "Honey Boo Boo" as a lead in to launch the special featuring competitive teen dancers.
TLC is exploring a new world of competitive teens: Clogging.
The network that's home to Toddlers & Tiaras and the upcoming Irish dancing series The Big Jig has set Down South Dance, a special exploring clogging, described as a high-octane version of tap dancing.

The special will focus on the rivalries that exist between two teams of teen cloggers -- Sapphire (Gaffney, South Carolina) and Synergy (Cumming, Georgia) -- as they compete in the R2K Clogging Invitational.
Coaches Chip Harrison and Sarah Darby both agree that no amount of training is too intense if it means winning. The special will watch the teams in the week ahead of the competition, when Chip attempts to poach dancers from Sarah's studio as the tension mounts when (naturally) the mothers of the teen dancers are caught in the crossfire.

TLC will use the Sept. 26 season finale of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo as a launching platform to premiere the special, which should it perform could continue beyond the one-off installment as the network has done in the past with entries including Cheer Perfection.
Down South Dance hails from FremantleMedia North America, with Kevin Williams, Larry Barron, Oliver Bogner and Jonathan Bogner on board as executive producers.
Down South Dance premieres at 11 p.m. Sept. 26 on TLC. Watch an exclusive clip, above.
