Trevor Noah Slams "Asshole" Ted Cruz for "Gun Party" After San Bernardino Shooting

"The only major change in the gun debate since he’s got into office has been to his face," Noah said of Obama. "At least we have found the answer to the amount of pressure under which black does crack."

Trevor Noah called out Ted Cruz for highlighting a Second Amendment rally at a gun range, shortly after the San Bernardino tragedy.

"Fourteen people just lost their lives in a shooting, and Ted Cruz's first thought is, 'Oh, that reminds me, got to send out my invites to my gun party!' " Noah noted on Thursday's episode of The Daily Show. "That seems like something you would only do if you were an asshole."

The host then wondered about the appeal of the Texas senator and GOP presidential candidate, who is widely unfavored by both Democratic and Republican parties, as noted by political commentators (and his former roommate).

"Maybe Ted Cruz is the leader that America needs — he’s the first person in recent memory who’s been able to unite people of both parties in their hatred of him," Noah continued. "And maybe, just maybe for that reason, we might all grow to love him. But probably not."

Regarding the San Bernardino shooting, the episode also featured a reel of President Barack Obama's official statements on such mass tragedies since entering office. "You can really see the toll it has taken on him," said Noah with photos of Obama as he's aged from 2009 to 2015. "He has been begging for gun control for six years, and the only major change in the gun debate since he’s got into office has been to his face. You’ve got to feel for him, but at least we have found the answer to the amount of pressure under which black does crack."

Who hasn't aged over this period? Senator Mitch McConnell, of whom Noah concluded, "Congress has discovered the fountain of youth! Pure, distilled inaction. Applied liberally to the face and then stick your face up your own ass."
