'True Blood': Mark Hudis Named New Showrunner, Nabs HBO Overall Deal
The premium cable channel has chosen Alan Ball's successor if the vampire series moves on to a sixth season.
Alan Ball will be passing the True Blood baton to new showrunner Mark Hudis for season six, an HBO spokesperson confirms to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hudis, who has served as a co-executive producer on the vampire series for two seasons, will be promoted to executive producer and showrunner if the series is renewed for a sixth season. The promotion comes as part of a two-year agreement to head the day-to-day operations of the production and also includes possible new series development.
Before joining True Blood, Hudis served as an executive producer on Nurse Jackie, Miss Guided and That ‘70s Show. He is represented by UTA.

In February, HBO and Ball announced that he would step down from the post at the end of season five to focus on his other projects and development as part of a multiyear deal, including new series Banshee for Cinemax and development of Wichita for HBO. He will continue to stay on with True Blood in an executive producer capacity.
